University Orthopaedic Surgeons Now Official Orthopaedic Surgeons for the Appalachian Mountain Bike Club

The specialty-trained doctors and staff at University Orthopaedic Surgeons are now serving as the official orthopaedic surgeons for the Appalachian Mountain Bike Club. As part of the formal agreement between the Appalachian Mountain Bike Club and University Orthopaedic Surgeons, the doctors of University Orthopaedic Surgeons will provide urgent orthopaedic injury access as well as orthopaedic health education to the club’s members. 

“We are thrilled to partner with the exceptional orthopaedic experts at University Orthopaedic Surgeons,” said Appalachian Mountain Bike Club Executive Director Matthew Kellogg. “Our partnership will ensure excellent medical care throughout our year as well as equipping our riders with the knowledge to stay safe while on the trail.”

Kostas Triantafillou, M.D., and Brian M. Tonne, M.D., fellowship-trained orthopaedic trauma surgeons at University Orthopaedic Surgeons, will serve as the medical director and assistant medical director for the Appalachian Mountain Bike Club, respectively.

“At University Orthopaedic Surgeons, we provide sports medicine coverage for a number of athletic teams, and we are honored to have the privilege of caring for the dedicated mountain bikers of the AMBC,” said Dr. Triantafillou. “We use a team approach to care and prevention, and we are eager to put that to use in a novel and unique way to keep these athletes healthy and safe.”
