Christine M. Seaworth, M.D.

Ankle, Foot, Joint Replacement, Joint Revision, Orthopaedic Trauma, Sports Medicine

Originally from San Antonio, Texas, Dr. Christine Seaworth began private practice at University Orthopaedic Surgeons in 2013. She grew up spending much of her time in the hospital with her father, a cardiologist, and mother, an infectious disease physician. Her previous career was that of a civil engineer, which carries over into her practice today in understanding how the body’s musculoskeletal system is structurally built and in helping people restore function in their joints and muscles.

Dr. Seaworth is fellowship-trained in both orthopaedic foot and ankle surgery and is consistently a Knoxville ‘Top-Doc’. She specializes in many conditions of the foot and ankle, including sports injuries (ankle sprains, Achilles tendon rupture), bunions, tendonitis of the foot and ankle (peroneal tendonitis and tendon tears, Achilles tendonitis, posterior tibial tendonitis), deformity correction of flat feet and high arches, cartilage injuries of the ankle such as osteochondral lesions of the talus, and trauma of the lower leg all related to foot and ankle fractures.

Dr. Seaworth also works outside the clinic and operating room by helping provide sports coverage on the sideline for One Knoxville, the local professional USL1 soccer team. She has extensive experience in coverage of professional sports as well as treating weekend warriors and upcoming high school athletes. During her foot and ankle fellowship in New York City at Hospital for Special Surgery she worked and trained under surgeons caring for the New York Giants, Brooklyn Nets, NY Red Bulls Soccer, New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, and Olympic athletes.

Dr. Seaworth is also involved in academic settings as a Clinical Assistant Professor at UT Knoxville Medical Center with training the University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine primary care sports medicine fellow, family practice residents, and rotating medical students along with pre-medical college students which she mentors.

She is nationally involved with the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons society on the Foot and Ankle Evaluation Committee developing educational material for orthopedic surgeons and continuing medical education. By also being an elected member on the CT Board of Directors for the Intersocietal Accreditation Commision she helps ensure patients are delivered high quality of care and safety when undergoing CT diagnostic studies.

Dr. Seaworth is excited to call Knoxville her adopted home and cheer on The University of Tennessee Vols as well as her alma maters Tulane University and Louisiana State University. She adores her two Irishdoodles and enjoys taking them on car rides for ice cream treats and on walks with her husband (who she also adores). On her off days  you may see her working in her garden, at a musical concert, or dabbling in golf. When stuck at home during the pandemic, she learned to cook and always enjoys trying out a new recipe in her kitchen to feed her family and fur babies.

Dr. Christine Seaworth is available to see patients at our UT Research Park, West Knoxville, or Sevierville locations. You can request an appointment online or call (865) 546-2663 for our UT Medical Center or Sevierville offices, (865) 218-9300 for our West Knoxville office. • “I had broken my ankle in three places was in a great deal of pain. Dr. Seaworth operated and placed two pins in my ankle. She kept me informed of what was needed, what she was going to do. She was always able to answer my questions and concerns. Dr. Seaworth had me go to therapy, recommended places local where I could go. I am very pleased with the treatment she provided, and all of the staff were just great. I never had a problem of any kind. I still have a little ways to go, but I am now walking with a cane and ankle brace.”
